Following police work in Margate, two men have been charged with a firearms offence.
Officers noticed suspicious activity in Milton Avenue on the evening of Saturday, June 18, 2022.
As part of the investigation, three men were arrested, and a firearm and a quantity of suspected cocaine were seized. During the response, a police officer was punched and kicked.
Alex Vassallo, 28, of Gladstone Road in Broadstairs, has since been charged with handgun possession, cocaine possession with intent to supply, obstructing a police officer, and assaulting an emergency worker.
Lee Walker, 35, of Honeysuckle Close, Margate, has been charged with handgun possession and cocaine possession with intent to supply.
On Monday 20 June, both suspects appeared in Folkestone Magistrates’ Court and were remanded in custody to appear in Canterbury Crown Court on Monday 18 July.
A 38-year-old man arrested the same evening has been released under investigation while the investigation continues.
