Kent Police have arrested a man in connection with a frightening late-night incident involving a weapon that looked like a meat cleaver. But officers say they still need witnesses to come forward with crucial info.
Cleaver-Wielding Threat Sparks Police Probe
At around 10.40pm on July 8, 2022, police rushed to the junction of Perry Street and Wycliffe Row in Gravesend after reports of a disturbance. A man allegedly brandished a weapon resembling a meat cleaver and behaved threateningly.
53-Year-Old Suspect Arrested and Released
A 53-year-old Gravesend man was arrested the next morning on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon. He has since been released pending further investigation as inquiries continue.
Police Appeal for Witnesses, Especially Four Pub-Goers
Officers have reviewed CCTV footage but are keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened. They’re especially interested in tracking down four people who were drinking outside a nearby pub, including one who reportedly offered the suspect a cigarette.
