Five Arrested After Brutal Racial Attack in Worksop
Police swooped fast after a man in his 20s was viciously assaulted on Cresswell Road, Worksop. The victim needed hospital treatment for facial injuries sustained just before 11am last Friday (25 November).
Racially Aggravated Assault Shocks Local Community
Four men and a teenager now face serious charges. James Rae, 27, Scott Raisbeck, 28, Mark Smith, 50, and Robert Wright, 33 — all from Worksop — were hit with racially and religiously aggravated grievous bodily harm charges. A 17-year-old, not named for legal reasons, was also charged.
Swift Police Action Leads to Multiple Arrests
All five suspects were remanded in custody and are set to appear at nottingham/" title="Nottingham" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked">Nottingham Magistrates’ Court tomorrow (28 November).
“Thanks to quick investigative work by officers from different teams including response, neighbourhood policing, Operation Reacher, CID and the dog unit, we made multiple arrests shortly after the attack,” said Detective Sergeant Matt Scott.
Police Urge Witnesses to Come Forward
Despite the arrests, the investigation is ongoing. Officers are urging anyone who was nearby or witnessed the shocking assault to get in touch.
