Harem Ahmed Abwbake – who was arrested yesterday in connection with the deaths of at least 27 migrants last November – has appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court, where he stated that he did not consent to his extradition to France.
Mr Abwbaker, who gave his address as a hotel, has an asylum application lodged in the UK, the court heard. An extradition hearing will take place in April. The judge told him if he is convicted of the crimes of which he is accused he could go to prison ‘for a very long time’.
