Teens Jailed After Botched £15,000 Judge’s Bike Heist at Snaresbrook Crown Court
Two teens from Enfield tried a cheeky heist – targeting a judge’s prized £15,000 high-performance motorbike right on the grounds of Snaresbrook Crown Court. Their brazen daylight robbery attempt backfired spectacularly, landing them in the dock and behind bars.
High-Speed Drama on Court Grounds
18-year-old Shay Hollis of Harrow Drive and 19-year-old Deon-Dre Rogers-Barrett of Ashdown Road rocked up on mopeds with a third unknown accomplice on 16 April 2021 at 2:10pm. Spotting the BMW R 1250GS Adventure TE Rallye worth £15,000, they launched their stunt to swipe it.
A security guard challenged them but Hollis pulled a machete on him. Terrified, the guard fled inside. The pair then tried pushing the bike away – but found themselves trapped after security slammed the gates shut.
Plan Fails, Teens Flee on Foot
- They abandoned the bike, causing thousands in damage.
- Dumped their mopeds, helmets, an angle grinder and the machete.
- Climbed over fencing and bolted on foot.
Police arrived swiftly and launched a hunt, but suspects vanished. Forensic exams linked the gear back to Rogers-Barrett and Hollis. The Met’s Operation Venice team arrested both on 27 May 2021.
Court Sentences and Police Warning
At Wood Green Crown Court on 2 December, Rogers-Barrett got 21 months in prison – suspended for 18 months, plus rehab, curfew, and £500 compensation to the victim. Hollis was handed an 18-month supervision order, community hours, and the same £500 compensation.
PC Ian Croxford said: “These lads showed a blatant disregard for the law riding into a Crown Court grounds to nick a valuable motorbike. The fact they threatened staff with a machete proves they weren’t afraid to use violence.”
“This will warn anyone involved in serious crime: we have the tools and determination to bring you to justice.”
