Emergency Scramble After Suspected Acid Attack in East London
Police, paramedics, and fire crews rushed to Gosset Street, Bethnal Green, following a reported acid attack on Friday, December 2nd. The alarm was raised around 1pm at Mulberry Academy Shoreditch after witnesses said a corrosive liquid was thrown during an altercation.
Chaos at Mulberry Academy After Liquid Thrown
Eyewitnesses claimed a substance was hurled at a 17-year-old girl, sparking fears of an acid assault. The London Fire Brigade dispatched a Detection, Identification, and Monitoring unit along with the LAS “Hart” Team and Met Police officers to investigate the scene.
Police Downplay Severity, Say No Injuries
A Met Police spokesperson told us:
“Police were called just before 12:50pm on Friday, December 2, to Gosset Street following reports of a woman throwing liquid at people. A third party reported liquid had been thrown at a 17-year-old girl. No injuries were reported and the girl did not require medical attention. The liquid is not believed to be corrosive. Officers attended with London Ambulance Service and London Fire Brigade as a precaution. No other injuries were reported. Enquiries continue and police are conducting reassurance patrols in the area.”
Investigation Ongoing as Community Stays on Edge
The full nature of the incident is still unclear and both the Met Police and London Ambulance Service have been approached for further comment. Meanwhile, local residents remain on alert after the shocking scare.
