Vicious Attacker Jailed for 30 Months After Brutal Assault
David Bush, 36, has been locked up for 30 months after brutally punching a woman repeatedly in the head in the early hours of 24 September last year. The victim managed to escape the terrifying attack, which capped off a nine-month campaign of harassment.
Nine Months of Harassment and Control
Bush didn’t just attack once. Over nine months, he bullied, threatened, and controlled the woman’s contacts, isolating her from friends and family. Despite denying the allegations during police interviews, he later pleaded guilty to assault and controlling and coercive behaviour.
He also admitted smashing a brick through the victim’s front door while on the run from the police, adding criminal damage to his charges.
Cops Praise Victim’s Bravery and Warn Other Violent Men
At Nottingham Crown Court on Tuesday 27 June, Bush of Fourth Avenue, Edwinstowe, was sentenced for his violent spree. Detective Constable Oliver Bennett from Nottinghamshire Police slammed Bush as a “violent and controlling bully.”
“As a very large and powerful man, he made a choice to viciously attack a far smaller woman who had little hope of defending herself,” Bennett said.
“She has shown remarkable resilience and courage since the attack. I hope this sentence brings her some comfort.”
“Let this be a warning to any other violent men who think they can abuse women with impunity. We take these crimes seriously and will do whatever it takes to bring offenders to justice.”
Justice has been served, but this case highlights the ongoing battle against violent and controlling behaviour towards women.
