Three Burglars Nabbed After Early-Morning Raids in Pontypridd
Craig Griffiths, 42, Christopher Horner, 42, and Lee Rees, 55, smashed their way into three homes in Pontypridd’s Trallwn area in the dead of night on May 3.
Thieves Strike While Victims Sleep
The trio targeted houses while occupants were fast asleep, stealing a haul of valuables. Their first hit was a property on Middle Street around 2am, where a husband and wife were unaware as the thieves made off with car keys, house keys, bank cards, and a leather wallet containing £15.
Caught on CCTV, Busted Quick
“CCTV footage captured their movements through Pontypridd town centre and Trallwn, even entering one of the victims’ addresses before making off with their personal items. They were identified by a local officer and arrested shortly after still in possession of some of the stolen goods,” said Detective Constable Joshua Emlyn.
All three men were swiftly arrested. They pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary and one count of attempted burglary.
Prison Time for Pontypridd Burglars
Griffiths landed a hefty sentence of three years and eight months behind bars. Horner and Rees each received two years and eight months.
DC Emlyn added, “This sentence is a great result and is the result of both local knowledge and swiftly acting on information. It should give the local community reassurance that three known burglars are in prison and off the streets for the foreseeable future.”
