On Tuesday 4 April 2023, constables conducted a search warrant at a residential property in Gordon Road, Gillingham.
Zubair Butt, aged 27, was located in an outbuilding where officers recovered one kilogram of cocaine, one kilogram of cannabis, five mobile phones, and £1,270 cash.
Butt was arrested and charged with possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession with intent to supply cannabis. He pleaded guilty to both charges and on Friday 23 June 2023, appeared before Maidstone Crown Court where he was sentenced to six years and three months imprisonment.
The judge also ordered the forfeiture and destruction of the mobile phones and the seizure of the cash, which will be donated to Kent Police charities.
Investigating officer, DC Jack Geere, of the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said:
‘Kent Police takes drugs trafficking seriously. Illegal drugs networks are responsible not only for supplying controlled substances but for other associated violent crimes. The sale of these drugs, which are unregulated and potentially dangerous for consumption, poses a risk to the wider community as well as those involved in buying and selling.
‘It remains a force priority to remove illicit drugs from the streets and ensure that offenders of drugs-related crimes are brought before the courts.’
