Care Home Boss Jailed for Bleeding Vulnerable Resident of £39,000
The manager of a Northampton care home has been slammed with a two-year jail sentence for ripping off a vulnerable resident to the tune of over £39,000.
Flavia Skinner’s Shocking Fraud at Berrywood Lodge
Flavia Skinner, 44, formerly from Sussex Road, Kettering, pleaded guilty to multiple fraud offences involving vulnerable residents at Berrywood Lodge Care Home in Duston. Over four years, she siphoned money from one victim by swiping his bank cards and setting up online payments to herself.
Investigation Uncovers Years of Theft
The scam was uncovered in 2019 when the victim’s sister alerted Northampton Police after spotting suspicious withdrawals draining his bank account. Officers launched a detailed probe by the Volume Fraud Crime Team, proving Skinner pocketed thousands between 2013 and 2017.
Sadly, the victim passed away in December 2022, months before the case hit the court.
Police Speak Out on Betrayal of Trust
“The defendant abused her position of trust to take thousands from a very vulnerable individual she was meant to care for,” said Sergeant Mike Rogers. “Thanks to the meticulous work of officers, justice has been served for the victim’s family.”
He added: “We will keep hunting down fraudsters like Skinner. Anyone who suspects they’ve been targeted should contact Northamptonshire Police on 101.”
