Arson Attack in Limavady: Man Arrested After Early Morning Blaze

Detectives have made a major breakthrough in the arson case that rocked a block of flats in Limavady’s Glenview Drive. Early on Thursday, 20 July, an oil tank fire sparked panic and forced residents to evacuate.

Firefighters and Police Rush to Scene

The alarm was raised just after 3.30am when police received reports of the tank ablaze. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service arrived swiftly, dousing the flames and preventing a full-scale disaster. Several tenants were safely evacuated without injury.

Man Held on Suspicion of Arson Endangering Life

Detective Inspector Lavery confirmed the blaze is being treated as arson with intent to endanger life. “Thankfully no one was hurt thanks to the rapid response,” he said. A 46-year-old man was arrested and is now in custody as investigators probe the motive behind this dangerous attack.
