Buzzard Shot and Killed in Garden – Police Hunt Witnesses

A buzzard was found wounded in a garden on Otham Street after being shot around 3.30pm on Friday, 3 February 2023. A member of the public reported the injured bird, sparking a police and RSPCA investigation.

Bird Euthanised Due to Serious Injuries

The buzzard was rushed to a veterinary clinic, but its injuries were too severe. Sadly, the bird had to be put down. Buzzards are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, making this a serious offence.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

“We suspect the bird was shot,” said Police Sergeant Darren Walshaw. “At the time, there were several people around – walkers, locals in their gardens, and two people on a nearby roof. We urge anyone who saw anything to get in touch.”
