Burglar Busted: Vinny Guess nabbed for £200k crime spree in Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire
Burglary Spree Uncovered by Police
Vinny Guess, 30, from Sandy, has been locked up for nine-and-a-half years after a major burglary rampage across Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire. Bedfordshire Police’s specialist Op Maze team linked him to seven break-ins, including an aggravated burglary, between November 2021 and February 2022.
During the spree, thieves made off with eight firearms, loads of cash, and expensive jewellery, with the total haul valued at around £200,000.
Terrifying Aggravated Burglary Scene
The worst raid happened in January 2022. The victim was in her bedroom with her child when she heard smashing sounds from the garden. Two masked intruders stormed in, one brandishing a screwdriver, ordering her to stay quiet.
They banged on the hallway and forced the victim to reveal the safe code before carting off the safe itself. Despite wearing balaclavas and using sprays to foil forensics, the burglars left clues behind.
Detectives Crack the Case with Tech
Experts from Op Maze pieced together mobile phone data and CCTV footage to catch Guess and his accomplices red-handed. Detective Constable Andy Boston, leading the probe, said:
“No one should feel unsafe in their own home, which is why we’re committed to cracking down on crime. “Burglary hits victims not just financially, but also shatters their sense of security and mental health. “Guess is a repeat offender who shows no remorse. I’m glad he’ll spend serious time behind bars.”
Judge Slams Burglar’s ‘Professional’ Crimes
The judge made it clear Guess was not driven by desperation but by choice:
“You engaged in professional burglaries for your own reasons, as you have done before. “Victims have lost irreplaceable sentimental jewellery and, more importantly, their feeling of safety at home. “You and your co-conspirators robbed them of the security everyone deserves.”
