Chilling Kidnap Case Ends with Prison Sentences

Chay Bowskill, 20, from Syston, was found guilty yesterday (25 January) at Leicester Crown Court for kidnap, coercive and controlling behaviour, and perverting the course of justice. He was cleared of grievous bodily harm.

Rocco Sansome, also 20, from Birstall, was convicted of kidnap in the same trial. Both men were sentenced today (26 January) at Leicester Crown Court. Bowskill received a hefty seven-and-a-half-year prison term, while Sansome got 21 months behind bars.

Victim Found Seriously Injured on Busy A6

On the morning of 17 September 2020, passersby alerted police after spotting 19-year-old Angel Lynn lying badly injured in the middle of the A6 near Loughborough. Calls flooded in from confused motorists who saw something alarming on the road.

Emergency teams rushed Angel to hospital where she remains, battling life-changing injuries despite intensive treatment.

Terrifying Abduction Uncovered

Investigators revealed Angel was forced into a silver transit van on Loughborough Road, Mountsorrel. Bowskill, her boyfriend, grabbed her from the street and hauled her back into the van, which Sansome was driving. The vehicle sped off.

During the journey, Angel somehow managed to escape and jumped from the moving van along the A6. Both men were arrested at the scene following a detailed police inquiry.

Detective Speaks Out on Case Impact

“Angel is a young woman who had plans and aspirations in place and the rest of her life to look forward to,” said Detective Chief Inspector Tony Yarwood from East Midlands Special Operations Unit.

“Because of the extent of her injuries she now faces constant medical treatment and round-the-clock care. Her family remain devastated by what has happened, and I praise the strength and bravery they have shown and continue to demonstrate to this day.

“No verdict or subsequent sentence can make up for the quality of life this young woman has lost.”
