Sniffer Dog Nets Half a Kilo of Cocaine in Quiet East Sussex Village
PD Rhodi Strikes Gold at Broad Oak Search
A sharp-nosed police sniffer dog has sniffed out a major haul of Class A drugs in rural East Sussex. PD Rhodi, a three-year-old Cocker Spaniel, discovered around 600 grams of cocaine during a search warrant at a property in Broad Oak, Brede, on Saturday 28 January.
More Drugs, Cash, and Phones Seized
The clever canine also helped officers from the Rother Neighbourhood Policing Team find a stash of cannabis and a large haul of cash hidden in a cupboard. In addition, scales and mobile phones were confiscated during the operation, suggesting a well-run drug dealing setup.
Rye Man Arrested Over Drugs and Weapon Charges
A 34-year-old man from Rye was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply class A cocaine and class B cannabis. He also faces charges for possession of an offensive weapon in a public place. The suspect has been released on unconditional bail until 28 April.
Inspector Vows to Crack Down on Drug Crime
“We executed multiple warrants at two properties following public concerns about drug activity,” said Inspector Olivia Carroll of Rother Neighbourhood Policing Team. “This operation led to a significant seizure of drugs and cash and an arrest. We’re determined to stop the flow of drugs into our towns and villages and disrupt criminal gangs.”
“We urge the public to keep reporting any suspicious activity online or by calling 101.”
