Brutal Bar Brawl Knocks Bouncer Unconscious in Nottingham
A night out in Nottingham city centre turned violent when a bouncer was punched hard enough to lose consciousness outside a St James’s Street bar.
Punch to the Face Floors Bouncer
The chaos erupted at around 3am on Sunday, May 1, 2022. After 26-year-old Santinne Traynor was kicked out of the bar, trouble quickly followed. He was with 25-year-old Leshae Traynor and 26-year-old Dominic Furniss as tensions boiled over on the street.
Leshae Traynor argued aggressively with door staff and grew “increasingly agitated” when passers-by tried to calm him down, Nottingham Crown Court heard. CCTV then caught him holding what appeared to be a knife before swinging it at a doorman’s face – striking with the knife handle.
Immediately after, Furniss landed a heavy punch on the victim’s face, knocking him out cold and sending him crashing to the pavement. Colleagues dragged the bouncer back inside before emergency services were called.
Serious Injuries and Ongoing Assaults
The bouncer suffered an open lip wound needing stitches and a cut eyebrow from the fall. The injuries made eating and talking painful, caused sleepless nights, and shattered his confidence.
Meanwhile, Santinne Traynor hit another doorman on the side of the head and, along with Furniss, attacked a bystander during the mayhem. The trio then tried to force their way back into the bar but failed and fled the scene.
The court also heard that Leshae Traynor and Furniss were caught on video celebrating their violent spree shortly after the incident.
Justice Served: Jail Time and Bar Bans
- Leshae Traynor of Bilborough pleaded guilty to wounding without intent and was convicted of carrying a bladed weapon in public. Already serving a 3½-year sentence for drugs, he received an extra 18 months behind bars.
- Dominic Furniss, from Bakersfield, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm. He told the court he “drank more than he should” and wished he’d walked away.
- Santinne Traynor, of Ilkeston, also pleaded guilty to wounding without intent. His lawyer said the attack was “completely out of character.”
All three men were handed 12-month suspended prison sentences and slapped with two-year exclusion orders banning them from the bar.
Police Vow to Stamp Out Street Violence
Detective Inspector Jon Kerry of Nottinghamshire Police said: “Violent disorder like this will not be tolerated. We work around the clock to reduce violence. We always do everything we can to swiftly bring offenders to justice.”
