Police Crack Down on Central Avenue Traffic Chaos
West Bridgford police have launched a blitz after locals complained that drivers keep flouting traffic rules on Central Avenue. Officers stopped 12 vehicles last month, warning motorists about the strict 7am-7pm driving ban designed to ease congestion and boost safety.
Speed Limit Slashed in Lady Bay
At the same time, the Rushcliffe Operation Reacher team targeted Radcliffe Road in Lady Bay. They’re educating drivers on the new 30mph speed limit, down from 40mph, aiming to protect residents and curb dangerous speeding.
Officers Pledge Ongoing Patrols and Community Focus
“We regularly get reports from residents about issues affecting their neighbourhoods,” said Sergeant Sarah Merrall of Nottinghamshire Police. “Speeding and traffic offences are serious concerns, and we are committed to tackling them head-on.”
She added, “Thanks to the motorists who cooperated during the stops. We’ll keep monitoring these hotspots to make sure more drivers stick to the rules.”
Council Backs Police Moves to Clean Up Town Centre
Rushcliffe Borough Council leader Cllr Simon Robinson fully supports the crackdown. “These restrictions on Central Avenue make it safer and friendlier for pedestrians and cyclists,” he said. “We’re keen to continue working with the police to keep local roads safe and ensure everyone follows the signage.”
