Knife Scare at Barton Peveril College Sparks Police Hunt

Hampshire police launched a rapid response after reports of a knife at Barton Peveril College yesterday afternoon (March 9).

Officers were called to the college around 2.20pm following claims that an individual armed with a knife was inside the campus. Armed units joined regular officers as a precaution.

No Knife Found, But Injuries Reported

On arrival, police found the college grounds locked down. No weapons were discovered, and thankfully, no knife injuries have been reported. However, three boys were identified with minor injuries after being attacked by a group of 5 to 6 youths who had entered the college.

Police believe the group had been spotted earlier in Grantham Park, Eastleigh, and are working to identify those involved and figure out why they were on the college premises.

Police and College Praise Quick Action

Chief Inspector Will Rollinson, Eastleigh’s District Commander, said: “I understand this was a stressful event for the students. I want to thank them for their cooperation as we ensured everyone’s safety.”

“Staff acted swiftly, allowing a thorough search for weapons. This remains an absolute priority—we won’t tolerate violence or weapons in our schools.”

“Officers will remain onsite today. If you have concerns, please approach us.”

Barton Peveril College Principal Rob Temple added: “We followed lockdown procedures immediately after the intruder warning. We have since confirmed the intruders had already left, and there is no evidence of any weapon.”

“We appreciate the ongoing police support and the presence of Community Support Officers on site to reassure students and maintain safety.”
