Detectives Launch Fresh Appeal After Barnes Murder

Police probing the brutal killing of 53-year-old William “Blaise” Algar have found human remains during a recent forensic search near Hounslow Heath. The discovery comes as officers renew calls for witnesses and information.

Key Clues Emerge in Barnes Murder Investigation

Forensics searched Edgar Road, close to Hounslow Heath, on Saturday, 11 January. While the remains’ identity hasn’t been confirmed, Blaise’s family have been updated and are receiving support from specially trained officers. A crime scene remains sealed off, with police expected to stay in the area for several days.

Detective Inspector White said: “This is a significant development in our investigation to establish what happened to Blaise.”

Police Urge Locals to Come Forward

Detectives want anyone who was in the area around Hounslow Heath to speak up. They ask:

  • Did you see anyone acting suspiciously or carrying anything unusual?
  • Did you have contact with Blaise during November or December?
  • Did you notice him at local shops in Castlenau?

“Were you walking on the heath? Did you see anyone carrying anything? I urge anyone with info to come forward,” said DI White.

Community Impact and Ongoing Investigation

South West Command Unit Superintendent Richard Smith said the murder has shaken Barnes and Richmond upon Thames. He praised the close collaboration between local officers, the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, and local authorities. “My thoughts remain with Mr Algar’s family as they come to terms with this tragedy,” he added.

Blaise Algar was found dead at his home on Nowell Road, SW13, on Friday, 3 January after welfare concerns were raised. A post-mortem at Kingston Mortuary confirmed he died from a stab wound to the chest.
