Blaze Erupts at Angel Inn Hotel in Midhurst
West Sussex Fire and Rescue are battling a major fire at the historic Angel Inn hotel on North Street, Midhurst. Ten fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, a water carrier, and an off-road vehicle are currently at the scene tackling the flames.
Historic Buildings Engulfed as Ukrainian Refugees Evacuated
Two historic buildings, including the Angel Inn, are well alight. The hotel was sheltering Ukrainian refugees, who were urgently evacuated. A young Ukrainian girl, one of those evacuated, revealed the hotel has 15 rooms.
A witness reported seeing around 30 people being led from the burning building to a nearby reception centre in the town.
Smoke Warning for Locals
Residents in the local area are urged to keep their windows tightly shut due to heavy smoke drifting through the streets.
