Concern Grows for Missing 69-Year-Old Sydney Piper in East London
Sydney Piper, 69, vanished without a trace from Chingford Road, E17, at 12:10pm on 23 February. He was last spotted heading north towards the Crooked Billet Roundabout.
Out of Character Disappearance Sparks Alarm
Police say Sydney’s sudden disappearance is completely out of character. Officers fear for his safety as he is believed to have no money on him and may be homeless.
Sydney stands 5ft 1in tall, slim build, with a grey beard and short black hair. When last seen, he wore a mid-length black coat, grey T-shirt, grey trousers, and black slippers.
A distinctive clue: Sydney walks with his feet splayed outwards, a gait locals might recognise.
Trail Leads to Epping Forest – Police Issue Urgent Appeal
Detectives suspect Sydney may have wandered into Epping Forest, a place he loved for day-long walks and solitude.
Detective Chief Inspector Seb Florent said: “We believe Sydney may have made his way to Epping Forest. Anyone walking, biking, or riding there must keep an eye out for him.”
“He could be in need of help and we want to make sure he’s safe and well.”
