Blaze Breaks Out in Barbican Flat – Dozens of Firefighters Rush In
Massive Fire Ravages Third-Floor Flat
This afternoon, a fierce fire tore through a four-room flat on the third floor at Bartholomew Close, Barbican. The blaze destroyed most of the apartment and spread damage to part of the flat above on the fourth floor.
Firefighters Battle Blaze with High-Tech Help
Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters from Soho, East Greenwich, Lambeth, and nearby stations sprinted to the scene after the alarm was raised at 3.58pm. The Brigade’s 999 Control Officers answered over 35 frantic calls as the fire raged on.
Station Commander Steve Howlett praised the crew’s efforts: “Firefighters worked incredibly hard to ensure everyone was accounted for and there were no remaining hot spots.”
High-tech drone teams even surveyed the scene from above, sending vital images of hard-to-reach areas to commanders on the ground.
One Man Hospitalised, Cause Under Investigation
Before fire crews arrived, a man escaped the building but was rushed to hospital by London Ambulance Service.
The fire was finally extinguished by 6.13pm, but the cause remains unknown as investigations continue.
