Late-Night Gun Attack on Godric Crescent
Emergency services raced to Godric Crescent, near King Henry’s Drive, around 11:40pm on Monday, December 23, following reports of a shooting. Julius, 50, was rushed to hospital by the London Ambulance Service. Thankfully, his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.
Campaigner Against Knife Crime and Local Hero
Since losing his son Jermaine to knife crime in Croydon in November 2021, Julius has been a fierce campaigner against gang violence in South Norwood. He also owns a popular Caribbean restaurant there, gaining national headlines for bravely disarming a knife-wielding thief who targeted a young customer. Video footage of his heroics went viral, earning widespread praise.
Family Support and Police Probe
Sources reveal Julius has now been discharged from hospital and spent Christmas with loved ones despite the trauma. The Metropolitan Police confirmed an active investigation but insist no arrests have yet been made. Specialist officers are leading the hunt for those responsible.
“An investigation is underway… There has been no arrest, and enquiries continue by specialist officers,” a Met spokesperson said.
The shooting has reignited fears around ongoing violence in the area, with community leaders rallying in support of the Cools family. Anyone with information is urged to contact police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
