National Emergency Alerts Test Set for April 23

Brits will get a mobile heads-up when danger strikes. On Sunday, 23 April 2023 at 3pm, the government will run a nationwide test of its new Emergency Alerts system.

Stay Warned About Floods and Other Crises

The system will blast alerts to mobiles in risky areas to warn of emergencies like severe flooding. It’s designed to save lives by getting crucial info straight to your phone.

Your Privacy Protected – No Data Collected

Emergency Alerts don’t track your location or ask for your phone number. They don’t collect personal data. Only official government bodies and emergency services can send these alerts.

Don’t have a mobile? Don’t worry. You’ll still be kept in the loop through other means.

Recognising Genuine Alerts

If an alert hits your phone, listen for a loud siren sound. Your screen will show details of the emergency and what to do next. To confirm it’s real, check the message comes from the short code 123.
