Victim Attacked and Phone Stolen in Mansfield Robbery

Nighttime Assault in Westfield Lane

A man suffered head injuries and had his mobile phone stolen during a violent robbery on Westfield Lane, Mansfield, on the night of 14 February 2023.

Suspects Charged and Bail Granted

Paul Bates, 41, from Chesterfield Road South, Mansfield, and Leah Smithurst, 33, from Chesterfield Road North, Pleasley, were charged with robbery. They appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 8 May 2023, and were released on conditional bail.

Both are due back in court at Nottingham Crown Court on 5 June 2023.

Police Vow to Crack Down on Robbery

“It was fortunate the victim only sustained minor injuries from this attack,” said Chief Inspector Claire Gould of Nottinghamshire Police.

“Robbery is a serious offence and the force treats reports of this nature with the utmost seriousness. We will always investigate and exhaust every line of enquiry in order to apprehend suspects and put them before the courts.”
