Armed man sparks panic on Lindfield Road – knives seized in Broxtowe raid
Gun Threat Shakes Neighbourhood
On May 4 at around 4:15pm, police rushed to a Lindfield Road address after a woman reported a man threatening her with what appeared to be a gun.
Knives Found in Broxtowe Search
Officers armed with specialist units searched a Broxtowe property and uncovered several knives. Daniel Lay, 29, from Strelley Road, Broxtowe, was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear and possession of an offensive weapon.
Additional Charges Laid After Victim Speaks Out
Lay now faces more serious charges including controlling or coercive behaviour and assault causing actual bodily harm. He appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on May 6 and is remanded in custody until his next hearing at Nottingham Crown Court on June 5.

Detective Inspector Jamie Moore from Nottinghamshire Police confirmed officers acted swiftly given the severity of gun threat reports. “We understand this has worried the community and hope today’s charges help ease those concerns,” he said.

A 33-year-old man and two 23-year-olds, arrested for assisting an offender, have been released on bail. Police continue probing the case and urge anyone with information to step forward.
