Murder Probe Launched After Woman Dies in Bury Attack
Greater Manchester Police have launched a murder investigation following a shocking attack on Pear Avenue, Bury. The tragic case began on Saturday, September 16, when a 55-year-old woman was found unconscious with serious injuries.
Two Held Over Suspected Murder
Officers initially arrested two people on suspicion of Section 18 assault, but their status was quickly upgraded to murder suspects. Both remain in custody while detectives continue their questioning.
Brutal Assault Sparks Community Alarm
Emergency services rushed to the scene around 9.30pm after being alerted to the incident. The woman was swiftly taken to hospital but sadly died two days later on September 18.
“This was a horrific, isolated attack on a vulnerable 55-year-old,” said Detective Chief Inspector Mark Davis. “We have several lines of inquiry ongoing. Two suspects remain in custody but the investigation continues. We have boosted patrols to reassure the community and answer any questions.”
Police Urge Locals to Step Up With CCTV and Dashcam Footage
Authorities are asking anyone near Pear Avenue between 7pm and 9.30pm on that Saturday to come forward with dashcam, doorbell, or CCTV footage that might help catch the culprit.
