Two Men Charged with Manslaughter After Barnsley Death
Two men are due before Sheffield Magistrates’ Court today, charged with manslaughter in the death of Scott Jackson from Barnsley.
Assault Outside Pub Ends in Tragedy
The horror unfolded in the early hours of Sunday, September 24, 2023. Police rushed to High Street, Thurnscoe, after reports of an assault near the Butchers Arms pub. At around 12:24am, officers found 42-year-old Scott Jackson unconscious at the scene.
Despite emergency treatment and being rushed to hospital, Scott sadly died from his injuries on Tuesday, October 3, 2023.
Suspects Arrested and Charged
- Three men were arrested on October 6 on suspicion of manslaughter.
- Thomas Bushby, 35, of Wensley Street, Barnsley, and Max Lowson, 26, of Lancaster Street, Barnsley, now face charges.
- The third, a 24-year-old, has been released on bail as investigations continue.

Scott Jackson’s family is receiving specialist support during this heartbreaking time. Authorities have asked for privacy to be respected as enquiries continue.
