Renewal Of Appeal: Longest-running Missing Person Cases, Including Jayson Duffy From Coventry

The police are renewing their appeal for any information regarding the whereabouts of some of their longest-running missing person cases. Among them is the disappearance of Jayson Duffy from Coventry, who went missing in October 1989 at the age of 18.

At the time of his disappearance, Jayson was visiting Amsterdam with four associates as part of a marketing exercise. He was living with his parents but had traveled abroad for this specific trip. On the night he vanished, Jayson had been drinking with two of his associates at the Cafe de Burgh.

The last confirmed sighting of Jayson was in the bar, and moments later, his companions realised he was missing. He never returned to his hotel, and there have been no further sightings of him since. Despite Amsterdam’s extensive canal network, including one outside the bar, no body has ever been found, and no witnesses have reported seeing anyone fall into the water during that time.

While the possibility of criminal activity cannot be ruled out, there is no evidence or witnesses suggesting foul play in Jayson’s case. Despite extensive media appeals by his family at the time, the investigation into his disappearance was reopened in 2022, but the case remains unsolved.

Detectives are still holding onto hope that someone out there may hold crucial information regarding Jayson’s disappearance. It is possible that he returned to the UK and someone may have seen him. Jayson was last seen wearing a cream or white crewneck jumper, blue tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers. He has mixed-race heritage, with curly afro-style hair, a brown marking on the white of his right eye, and a scar on his right-hand index finger.
