Barnsley Man Jailed for 14 Years Over Brutal Home Invasion and Rape
Shock rocked the community as Jamie Goose, 35, of Barnsley, was slammed with a 14-year prison sentence at Sheffield Crown Court on November 15. The brutal offender admitted to charges including rape, non-fatal strangulation, and carrying offensive weapons.
Four-Hour Nightmare: Axe and Knife Used in Terrifying Attack
The court heard how, on April 24, 2023, Goose bombarded his victim with threatening texts and calls. Later that evening, he broke into her home through the rear patio door armed with an axe and knife. What followed was a terrifying four-hour ordeal filled with threats, abuse, and relentless pursuit.
Strangled, Raped, and Insulted – Then a Callous Text
After chasing the victim upstairs, Goose strangled her and hurled vile insults. He subjected her to a horrific sexual assault, coldly telling her she “deserved to be treated like that” before fleeing the scene. To add insult to injury, he sent her a disturbing text message after escaping.
Detective Praises Victim’s Courage
On October 11, Goose pleaded guilty at Sheffield Crown Court. Detective Constable Alice Gilbert praised the victim’s bravery, saying, “Her courage throughout this investigation has been immense, and her support has been crucial.”
