Murder Investigation Launched Following Woman’s Death – UKNIP

Police have launched a murder investigation after a woman was found dead in Kingswood. The incident occurred on Monday, November 20th, at a property in Wedmore Close, where officers responded to a report of a serious assault.

Upon arrival at around 3.50pm the officers discovered a woman with significant injuries. They immediately carried out CPR, and paramedics were called to the scene. Unfortunately, despite their efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at approximately 4.30pm. A forensic post-mortem examination is scheduled for today to determine the cause of her death.

Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the victim’s next of kin has been notified, and they are receiving support from specialist family liaison officers. Meanwhile, a 43-year-old man was arrested from within the property on suspicion of murder. Prior to being questioned by detectives, he will undergo assessment by health professionals.

Chief Inspector Dan Forster of the Neighbourhood Policing expressed his condolences to the victim’s family and the distressed children who were present at the property during the incident. He reassured the community that the Major Crime Investigation Team is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter. Currently, the incident is being treated as an isolated incident involving individuals who are known to each other.

To facilitate the investigation, a cordon has been established around the crime scene, allowing forensic experts to examine the area. This cordon is expected to remain in place for at least a couple of days until all necessary inquiries are completed. Additionally, neighbourhood officers will increase patrols in the area to provide reassurance to the residents and the wider community.

In light of the incident, the Professional Standards Department has been notified, and a mandatory referral will be made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to assess the circumstances of the police response to the incident.

Authorities are urging anyone with concerns or questions to approach an officer or contact their local neighbourhood policing team.
