Giedrius Vasiljevas had called 999, saying he planned to kill himself and claiming he had loaded guns. Police, including a negotiator trained to de-escalate such situations, arrived quickly hoping to resolve things peacefully.

The couple’s young son and Sigita are now staying with a friend while their house undergoes police investigation. The family friend reported Giedrius showed signs of mental distress and had been drinking heavily, possibly trying to cope.
