In a major breakthrough, Metropolitan Police detectives have successfully brought a serial romance fraudster to justice. David Checkley, 65, has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for defrauding approximately £100,000 from at least ten female victims across the UK.
Checkley, who used the alias David Cohen, was found guilty of 19 counts of fraud and one count of theft at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, 29 November. The conviction followed an eight-week trial where ten female victims testified against him.
