Gosport in Tears as Beloved Levi Kent laid to Rest

The tight-knit community of Gosport bid a heartfelt farewell to 22-year-old Levi Kent today. The young local’s funeral at St. John’s Church in Forton brought family, friends, and residents together for a poignant 45-minute service.

Emotional Funeral Draws Hundreds of Mourners

Close friends carried Levi’s coffin while his mother, Tammy Kent, followed clutching a floral tribute that spelled out “SON.” Outside the church, around 100 bikers gathered to escort Levi’s procession to Porchester Crematorium, honouring a community hero.

As the cortege rolled through Gosport’s streets, traffic ground to a halt. Red and black balloons and banners adorned with Levi’s number 1 lined the route, a striking testament to the deep impact he made locally.

Tragic Death Sparks Major Murder Investigation

Levi was found gravely injured on Keyes Road in the early hours of 24 November and died despite efforts to save him. Hampshire Police launched Operation Talus, a complex murder probe that’s so far seen 13 arrests, including seven charged suspects linked to the West family.

A Son Remembered for His Big Heart and True Grit

“His kind heart outweighed his naughty heart,” said Tammy Kent, remembering her “precious” son. She thanked the community for their overwhelming support during this painful time.

Known affectionately as the ‘Gentle Ginger Giant’, Levi overcame personal struggles with self-esteem and found solace with caring teachers and new friends. He completed a building course at CETC, earned his CSCS card, and was eager to work hard while enjoying life.

Levi’s quick wit, cheeky comebacks, and warmth left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. His tragic loss leaves a hole in Gosport, but his spirit lives on in the community he loved.
