Tragedy Strikes on QEII Bridge

A man in his 30s has died after falling onto the carriageway of the QEII Bridge at the Dartford Crossing. Kent Police confirmed the heartbreaking incident, which happened yesterday afternoon on the Kent side of the crossing.

Emergency Services Rush to Scene

The fall was reported at 1.36pm on Saturday, January 6. Emergency crews arrived quickly, but despite their efforts, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The A282 carriageway was closed immediately to allow for investigation and cleanup.

Traffic Chaos and Road Closures

The fatal incident caused severe disruption. The M25 was shut southbound between Junction 30 and Junction 2, triggering major delays. Commuters faced up to three hours of traffic jams heading towards the bridge. National Highways said extensive cleanup was needed, which prolonged the closure.

Police Confirm No Suspicion

Kent Police have declared the death non-suspicious and informed the man’s next of kin. A coroner’s report is being prepared as part of routine procedures. The A282 finally reopened at around 10.30pm, easing the traffic nightmare.
