A man in his 30s was stabbed in the leg in Wimbledon, sparking a serious investigation. The victim is a journalist working for a Persian-language media outlet based in the UK.
Met’s Counter Terrorism Command Takes Charge
Due to previous threats against this group of journalists, specialist officers from the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command have stepped in to lead the inquiry. So far, no arrests have been made.
Commander Dominic Murphy, Head of the Met’s Counter Terrorism Command, said: “We continue to assess the circumstances of this incident, and our investigation is making progress, but I am not yet able to provide further information about any motive behind the attack.”
He added, “I can confirm that I am confident these suspects do not present a risk to communities of London or the UK.”
Extra Police Patrols and Community Appeal
Additional patrols are underway in Wimbledon and across London as a precaution. Residents worried about safety are urged to speak with officers on patrol.
Commander Murphy thanked those cooperating with the investigation, praising the work of police, specialist officers, and partner organisations to uncover the facts and identify those responsible.
