Yellow Wind Warning Hits England, Wales & NI

The Met Office has blasted parts of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland with a yellow wind warning today. Gusts of up to 55mph are set to roar in, along with heavy rain, sparking fears of travel chaos and power cuts.

From Keswick to Scarborough: Storm Alert

The warning kicked in at 6:25am and lasts until 10pm. It stretches from Keswick in the west to Scarborough in the east, covering all of Wales and Northern Ireland – though Scotland remains untouched.

A low-pressure system north of Scotland is pushing strong winds across the UK. Expect inland gusts of 40-45mph, with exposed coasts facing a brutal 50-55mph. The pounding rain will spell more trouble for anyone on the move.

Travel Hits Hard: M48 Bridge Shut

National Highways has already shut the M48 Severn Bridge between England and Wales due to dangerous winds. Drivers are being diverted via the M4 Prince of Wales Bridge to stay safe.

Coastal areas should brace for large waves and spray. Inland, prepare for delays across roads, rail, air, and ferry services. Power outages are also possible in vulnerable spots battered by strong gusts.

Britain’s Wettest Day This Week

Today promises to be the soggiest of the week, with a thick band of rain sweeping southeast. Temperatures will sit below average, especially in Scotland, where mornings could dip to just 2-3°C. Expect sleet and hail mixed with icy winds in the coldest areas.

Though drier, warmer weather is on the horizon later this week, today’s storm is a stark reminder that spring in the UK can still throw a punch. Stay tuned to weather updates and travel alerts to stay ahead of the disruption.
