Police are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Woolwich.

Police are urgently seeking witnesses and information after a 35-year-old man was assaulted in Woolwich in the early hours of Sunday, 17 March.

The incident occurred at approximately 3.25am near the bus stop outside Woolwich Library on Wellington Street, SE18. London Ambulance Service responded to the scene, and the victim was swiftly transported to the hospital for treatment. He remains in critical condition and continues to receive medical care.

Authorities are now seeking assistance from the public in identifying the suspect involved. The suspect is described as a Black man, approximately 5ft 10” tall, and was wearing dark clothing at the time of the incident.

Anyone who was in the vicinity of the bus stop outside Woolwich library during the early hours of Sunday, 17 March, and witnessed the assault, or who may have information that could aid the investigation, is urged to come forward.

Those with information are asked to contact the Serious and Complex Crime team based at Lewisham via 101, quoting reference number 01/99520/24.

Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
