Teen Charged with Attempted Murder After Stabbing Incident in Bromley

A troubling incident unfolded in Bromley as a 16-year-old boy was stabbed, leading to the arrest and charging of another teenager with attempted murder.

The incident occurred on April 17, around 3:50 p.m., when officers responded to reports of two teenagers spotted with knives in Downham Way. Subsequently, a 16-year-old boy was found with stab wounds on the same road. Fortunately, he was swiftly transported to the hospital for treatment, and his condition was assessed as not life-threatening.

Now, a 16-year-old boy, whose identity remains concealed due to his age, has been charged with attempted murder. Additionally, he faces charges of possessing a machete in public.

The stabbing incident took place opposite Launcelot Primary School, raising concerns within the community and prompting responses from school officials. Ms. Osbaldeston, the headteacher of Launcelot Primary School, acknowledged the incident and assured that it occurred away from the school premises at the end of the day when most children had already left.

In response to the incident, she stated, “We ensured that any remaining children were collected safely from after-school clubs and made arrangements for older children who usually travel independently to be collected by an adult.”

As authorities continue their investigation into the incident, residents of Bromley are reminded of the importance of community safety and vigilance in preventing such incidents in the future.
