Man Charged in Connection with Anti-Muslim Incidents in West London – UKNIP

Detectives have made significant progress in their investigation into a series of anti-Muslim incidents across west London. Jonathan Katan, a 61-year-old resident of Ealing, has been charged in connection with these racially aggravated crimes.

Charges and Arrest

Katan faces 11 counts of racially aggravated criminal damage related to incidents targeting mosques, businesses, and the Palestinian Mission in Hammersmith. Additionally, he has been charged with one count of a racially aggravated section 5 Public Order Act offence and one count of a racially aggravated section 4a Public Order Act offence.

The suspect was apprehended on November 27 last year after red paint was thrown or sprayed at various locations in the boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, as well as Ealing. These incidents occurred between October 16 and November 18.

Community Collaboration

Chief Superintendent Sean Wilson, responsible for policing in West Area (which covers Hammersmith), praised the collaborative efforts between law enforcement and the Crown Prosecution Service. He stated, “This demonstrates how seriously we take allegations of hate crime against any of our communities.”
