A teenager is fighting for his life after a multiple stabbing incident in uk/topic/north-finchley/">North Finchley. The 19-year-old remains in critical condition following the attack on North Finchley High Road shortly after 9pm yesterday (Wednesday, May 22).

A 17-year-old boy also suffered serious stab injuries but is thankfully in stable condition. Photos from the scene show police and paramedics responding to the incident outside Tesco Express.

The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that a 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, while a 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.

Police Appeal for Witnesses

North Finchley High Road was closed overnight while police carried out inquiries, but it has since been reopened. The Met Police are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the stabbing. A spokesperson said:

“Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at 9.14pm on Wednesday, May 22, to reports of a stabbing on High Road. Officers, London Ambulance Service paramedics, and London’s Air Ambulance attended. At the scene, a 19-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were found with knife injuries. They were taken to hospital, where the 19-year-old remains in critical condition.

The 17-year-old victim’s injuries, although serious, are not life-threatening. A 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm. They were taken to north London police stations where they remain at this time. A crime scene remains in place.

Community Reaction

Residents in North Finchley have expressed shock and concern following the incident. It’s terrifying to think this could happen so close to home,” said one local resident. “I hope the police can quickly get to the bottom of what happened.”
