One Hurt After Train Smashes Into Stolen Machinery
Police say a Transport for Wales train, hurtling at 60mph, collided with a mini digger left on the tracks. The crash caused a fuel leak that sparked the fire. One passenger twisted their ankle but didn’t need hospital treatment. No other injuries were reported.
Stolen Mini Diggers Dumped on Tracks, Says Police
Investigators found a second mini digger tossed onto a nearby embankment. Both machines were stolen from a local rental yard. Detectives from the British Transport Police’s Major, Serious and Organised Crime Unit are leading the probe.
Detective Chief Inspector Sam Blackburn said: “We believe this fire started after an attempted theft of two mini diggers ended with them on the rails. Obstructions like this are wildly dangerous and can cause serious injuries or worse. We’re determined to hold those responsible to account.”
“The collision caused a fuel leak that ignited the fire. We’re working closely with the fire agency to control the fuel spill and protect the environment.”
