Repeat Shoplifter Banned from Tesco and More in Kent

Tommy Robertson, 58, of London Road, has been slapped with a fresh ban. He’s forbidden from entering any Tesco store in Kent until April 2024.

Targeted Shops Across Kent – Stole Over £2,300 Worth of Goods

Between July 10, 2023, and April 24, 2024, Robertson hit several retailers including Fenwicks, Boots, The Perfume Shop, Tesco, Poundland, and Hoopers. On nine occasions, he stole designer clothes, sunglasses, fragrances, baby clothes, Christmas trees, toys, and smart watches.

The total value of stolen goods is thought to exceed £2,300.

Also Charged Over Bike Theft

Robertson’s criminal antics didn’t stop at shoplifting. On August 4, 2023, he was charged for stealing a bicycle from Vale Road.

Court Imposes Criminal Behaviour Order

On May 28, 2024, Robertson faced Sevenoaks Magistrates’ Court. There, the criminal behaviour order was put in place to curb his offending spree.

“Robertson is a repeat offender who persistently targets businesses in the town centre and becomes aggressive and abusive when challenged,” said PS Daniel Bartlett of Kent Police’s Anti-Social Behaviour Team.

“The criminal behaviour order recognises the impact of his behaviour on his victims and the local community. The ban also aims to stop his crime sprees that hurt shops’ ability to trade profitably and could push prices up.”

“Kent Police takes shoplifting seriously and urges business owners to report incidents so offenders can be brought to justice.”
