HGV Fire Halts All Traffic on M25 in Surrey – UKNIP

A significant fire involving a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) has brought traffic to a complete standstill on the M25 in Surrey.

The fire erupted on the M25 clockwise between Junction 11 (Chertsey) and Junction 12 (M3) at approximately 2:30 pm today (June 12).

National Highways (@HighwaysEAST) has issued a warning on X (formerly known as Twitter) advising motorists to allow extra travel time if they are in the area.

Traffic officers are currently assisting the Surrey Fire and Rescue Service in their efforts to control the blaze. The fire brigade has expressed safety concerns about the vehicle and has mandated that no traffic passes the scene until the situation is under control.

Significant Delays and Traffic Build-Up

The incident has resulted in significant delays, with AA reporting 60-minute delays and a traffic queue stretching for three miles.

A video shared on X shows bright orange flames engulfing the vehicle, with large plumes of black smoke billowing into the air, further highlighting the severity of the incident.
