Fire Erupts During Demolition at Charlotte Douglas Airport Control Tower
The old air traffic control tower at Charlotte Douglas International Airport suddenly caught fire on Wednesday while being torn down. The blaze sparked a tense moment for the construction crew on site.
Flames Trap Workers, But All Escape Unharmed
The fire broke out in the afternoon as workers dismantled the decades-old tower. Flames quickly engulfed parts of the structure, trapping four construction workers inside. Fortunately, they managed to escape unaided and suffered no injuries.
Firefighters Rush In, Cause Under Investigation
Emergency services were alerted immediately, and firefighters rushed to the scene to douse the flames. Authorities have launched an investigation to determine what sparked the fire.
A Charlotte Douglas spokesperson said: “We are relieved that no one was injured during this incident. The safety of all personnel is our top priority, and we are cooperating fully with the fire department’s investigation into the cause of the fire.”
