Teen Jailed After Forensic Breakthrough in Stanmore Stabbing

A 19-year-old has been found guilty of murdering fellow teen Anis Omar Zen, thanks to a forensic breakthrough that uncovered their DNA on the fatal kitchen knife.

Knife Traces Seal Saeed Ibrahim’s Fate

Saeed Ibrahim, from Algar Close, Stanmore, was convicted at Inner London Crown Court for the stabbing death of Anis Omar Zen, also 19. The chilling evidence came from DNA traces of both boys on the weapon used in the Harrow attack last year.

Anis tragically lost his life after being stabbed twice, including a fatal wound to the chest. Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith said, “Once again, a family has had to sit in court hearing how their loved one died in a brutal and unjustified knife attack. Our thoughts remain with Anis’s family as they come to terms with their loss.”

Jury Unmoved by Killer’s Lies

During the trial, Ibrahim tried to spin the story, claiming he was attacked first. But multiple eyewitnesses exposed his version as fiction, leading the jury to swiftly deliver a guilty verdict.

The stabbing happened on September 4, 2023, after Anis took a taxi to visit a friend in Masefield Avenue. The driver saw a man wielding a large knife chase Anis before stabbing him. Another witness spotted Ibrahim ditching items in nearby bushes. The forensic evidence was the final nail in the coffin.

Justice Awaits as Killer Faces Sentencing

Three days after the murder, police arrested Ibrahim in North London. Though he stayed silent during questioning, he later claimed self-defence, alleging Anis threatened him with a knife. The jury rejected this defence, highlighting the dangers of carrying weapons.

Saeed Ibrahim is due for sentencing on September 6. This case stands as a stark warning about the deadly consequences of knife crime on London’s streets.
