Christmas Day Horror: Mercedes Driver Mows Down Pedestrians in London Rampage

A savage Christmas Day terror unfolded in London’s West End when Anthony Gilheaney, 31, ploughed his Mercedes into innocent pedestrians on Shaftesbury Avenue. The booze-fuelled rampage left one man dead and four others seriously injured.

Tragic Fatality After High-Speed Crash

Young victim Aidan Chapman, 25, was struck full-force by Gilheaney’s car, suffering catastrophic brain injuries. Despite desperate hospital efforts, Aidan died on New Year’s Eve, leaving his family devastated.

“No parent should endure the hellish trauma of losing a child. Anthony Gilheaney has stolen the best part of us. Nothing can fill the dark void he’s left behind.”

Racist and Homophobic Violence Caught on Dashcam

The nightmare began after Gilheaney left a nightclub, where he threw punches at strangers and launched a vicious, unprovoked attack on a Sikh man. Caught on an Uber dashcam, Gilheaney hurled racist abuse, calling victim Arif Khan a “P***” before deliberately knocking him down and kicking him on the pavement.

Gilheaney didn’t stop there. He targeted a gay couple, Marcelo Basbus-Garcia and Miguel Waihrich, strolling hand-in-hand after midnight mass, and struck a friend of the deceased, Tyrone Itorho.

Guilty Verdict Delivered – Sentencing Looms

Gilheaney admitted manslaughter and unlawful wounding but denied murder and attempted murder. The jury disagreed, finding him guilty of murder for Aidan’s death and multiple counts of attempted murder.

In a shocking twist, Gilheaney never had a driving licence and used fake number plates to dodge the law.

He faces sentencing at the Old Bailey on January 30.
