Tragic Shooting in Southwark: Victim Dies Despite Emergency Efforts

Detectives probing a Southwark shooting have confirmed the victim, a 20-year-old man, has died despite frantic medical intervention.

Gunfire at East Surrey Grove

The alarm was raised at 4.54pm on Wednesday, 10 July, when London Ambulance Service alerted police to an injured man at East Surrey Grove, SE15. Officers, paramedics, and London’s Air Ambulance rushed to the scene to find the young man shot multiple times.

He was rushed to hospital in critical condition but sadly passed away the following evening. His devastated family has been informed and is now receiving support from specialist officers.

Investigation Underway with No Arrests Yet

A post-mortem is scheduled to determine the full cause of death. At this early stage, no arrests have been made. Crime scenes remain in place as police continue their inquiries.

Detective Chief Inspector Alex Gammampila from the Specialist Crime Command said, “Our thoughts are with the family at this tragic time. We urge anyone who witnessed anything suspicious or has footage to come forward. Expect to see extra patrols in the area shortly—please talk to officers if you have information or concerns.”

Detective Chief Superintendent Seb Adjei-Addoh, local policing commander, added, “This is a tragic and needless loss of life. We will do everything possible to bring those responsible to justice.”
