Connor Stephens Jailed for Hoarding 21,000 Child Abuse Images

A 21-year-old man has been locked up for five years after police uncovered a horrifying stash of more than 21,000 indecent photos and videos of children hidden on secret devices.

Connor Stephens, previously under a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) due to past offences, was caught after officers conducting a routine check found the digital hoard concealed during investigations in November 2023.

Serial Offender Breaks Rules, Faces Heavy Jail Sentence

Stephens, who lived around Boston, was already banned from possessing such material but flagrantly broke the rules by hiding illegal devices packed with horrific content. He pleaded guilty to possession of child sexual abuse material, prohibited content, extreme pornography, and further serious charges including perverting the course of justice and breaching a suspended sentence.

On Thursday, July 11, Lincoln Crown Court handed him a custodial sentence along with a five-year extended licence and an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.

The case showcases a remarkable joint effort between Lincolnshire Police units. Detective Sergeant Nicola Stafford of the Paedophile Online Investigation Team (POLIT) revealed the scale of the operation.

“It really was a brilliant example of an interdepartmental effort, spanning several months from November 2023 to now,” Stafford said. “Our digital media investigators extracted evidence from the cloud, uncovering thousands of indecent images. The Digital Forensics Unit worked against the clock to prepare the case for court, while prison intelligence officers coordinated interviews during his remand.”
