Alfie, a 16-year-old traditional tri-coloured cob, was found dead in a chilling scene at a property in Carlton-in-Lindrick, Worksop, Nottinghamshire. The grim discovery was made around 10:30 AM on Thursday, plunging the local community into shock.

The beloved horse was last seen healthy and well by his owner around 7 PM on Wednesday. After a routine bath, Alfie was turned out into a field for the night—only to be found brutally killed the next morning.

Police Launch Major Investigation

Nottinghamshire Police have launched a full-scale investigation into what Chief Inspector Clive Collings described as a “sickening, heartless assault on a defenceless animal.”

“All the evidence shows this was a cruel attack. We are determined to find those responsible and bring them to justice,” said Collings, head of the rural and wildlife crime unit.

Call for Witnesses and Increased Vigilance

Police are urging horse owners across the area to be extra vigilant following this brutal attack. They are also appealing to local residents to check CCTV or doorbell cameras for any suspicious activity between Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.
